Tadalafil is available in different strengths, which are designed to be used in different ways.
Tadalafil 2.5mg & 5mg tablets (Tadalafil Daily)
These low-strength Tadalafil tablets should be taken as one tablet every day.
They should be taken every day whether you have sex on that day or not.
Taking Tadalafil medicine in this way means you always have a small amount in your body, so the medicine is always working. This means you will get an erection whenever you are aroused, no matter what time of day or night.

If you are using low-dose daily Tadalafil for the first time, please note that it takes up to two weeks to start working.
Tadalafil 10mg & 20mg tablets (As required dosage)
10mg and 20mg tablets should be taken a minimum of 30 minutes before sex.
They should only be taken when you are expecting to have sex, and are too strong to be taken every day.
These lower strengths are a better choice for people who only experience erectile dysfunction sometimes, who prefer not to take a tablet every day or who have already tried another ED tablet treatment which hasn’t suited them.
How long does Tadalafil last?
Tadalafil continues to work for up to 36 hours after taking it, which is why many people like it. Also known as the weekend pill as a tablet taken on a Friday night could still be working on Sunday morning, making it convenient and cost effective.
The 2.5mg and 5mg daily doses are taken every day, meaning there is always a small amount of the medicine in your body. This allows erections to be spontaneous at any time.
If you stop taking daily Tadalafil after previously taking for more than two weeks, it will take up to one week for the effects to wear off.
Tadalafil will not give you an instant or uncontrollable erection, you still need to be sexually aroused.
Who should NOT take Tadalafil?
Sometimes Tadalafil can be unsafe to use.
You should consult your doctor or our team before taking Tadalafil if;
- You take nitrates for a heart condition. These are usually tablets or capsules called Isosorbide Mononitrate or Nicorandil (a medicine very similar to a nitrate) but can be called by other names
- You use poppers
- You have angina or have ever been given a spray that goes under your tongue to help chest pain
- You have had a heart attack or stroke within the last three months
- You have a condition called Peyronie’s or your penis has a bend when erect
- You, or anyone in your family, has a history of eye disease, including retinitis pigmentosa or non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
- You have liver or kidney problems
- You have sickle-cell disease, multiple myeloma, or leukaemia
- You have a stomach ulcer You have low blood pressure
- You have uncontrolled high blood pressure
